Baby’s First Visit to a Shrine

Hello, Everyone!

Thank you so much for coming back to Musuvi’s blog!  I got super happy news recently, so I want to share with you.

One of my friend gave birth to baby boy!!!!!!!! He went to Omiyamairi last week. Have you ever heard “Omiyamairi” ?

It’s a Japanese Shinto ritual similar to the Christian baptism ceremony. Japanese people take their baby to a shrine and pray for the health of the baby when the baby is about one month old. Babies wear special white clothes for the ceremony and they are draped with special kimono.

I didn’t know this culture until I heard from my friend. We have so many interesting culture. Please visit Japan and experience our culture when the coronavirus situation settles down. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it !

Lastly, Best wishes for her baby’s happy future!
